The new IWEPAL chip system is getting a lot of buzz. Vapers are talking precision and fast power with amped up cloud production. You will find the new IWEPAL chip inside the new iJoy Captain PD270 mod. Is this a captain deserving of a salute? Or should you mutiny and toss it overboard? Our iJoy Captain PD27- vape mod review will deliver the final verdict.
Before we get started into the mod itself, I want to go over our review of the customer experience. We did not solicit a product for review from iJoy or any retailer. We wanted to review the Captain PD270 mod considering the entire experience that you go through. That entails finding a good deal and an authentic product. There are a lot of clones out there so we seek out and vet authenticated dealers only. We recommend that you do the same. There will be links for you to check out the deals offered by authenticated dealers.
We ordered from Direct Vapor. The reasons are that Direct Vapor does not sell clones. They are an authentic product vendor. They also offer warranty protection, low price guarantee, free shipping and US based customer service. I tested the customer service by calling them and peppering them with questions about the iJoy Captain PD270. Then I asked for details about the batteries that come with it. I asked about what wires I could use in temp control. They knew all the answers. They were courteous and helpful. As usual, DV delivered a positive customer experience.
iJoy Captain PD270 Vape Mod Review
First off in our Expert Vaping iJoy Captain PD270 vape mod review, fast shipping. Which is awesome because I wanted to put this mod through its paces and publish our vape review asap. A lot of you have been asking me for a review of this device. Folks I get and read all of your emails and keep them coming! We know why people vape and what they are looking for. I learn a lot from our readers. Just goes to show we really are the place for consumers, this is your vape review and news site. We just work here.
Anyway, we paid $69.70 for an iJoy Captain PD270 234 watt mod and here’s all that came with it:
- The iJoy Captain PD270 234 Watt TC Box Mod
- 2 x 20700 3000 mAh Vape Batteries
- 1 x 18650 Battery Adapter
- Micro USB Cable
- 1 x User Manual
I highlighted the 20700 in bold text something above, you notice that? Interesting story and something really unique for vapers to think about. First, many mods have their max wattage as part of their name. For example the SX Mini Q Class 200 is a 200 watt mod. The VaporFi VAIO 80 is an 80 watt mod. So with the iJoy Captain PD270 we are looking at a 234 watt mod. So where does the number 270 come from? The batteries.
20700 Vape Batteries. Thumbs Way Up!
The iJoy Captain mod comes with more powerful higher capacity batteries. The 20700 batteries are 40 amp high output batteries. There is no doubt whatsoever that you will legitimately hit 234 watts if that’s what you are looking for. Moreover, those batteries have 6000 mAh combined storage. That is about 30% more battery capacity than a typical dual 18650 mod. More capacity and plenty of power. The iJoy Captain has some serious authority going on!
the iJoy 20700 batteries that will come with your captain are larger than 18650 batteries. They are about 15% taller with the same diameter. Now 18650 batteries are by far the most common batteries in the industry. You will get an 18650 adapter with the Captain mod allowing you to use 18650s as well. That way you can keep using the Captain with your 18650 batteries while you are recharging the big 20700s. They do take about 2.5 hours to fully recharge.
The iJoy Captain Deserves A Salute For The 20700 Batteries
By the way, you can charge your iJoy 20700 3000 mAh batteries in the mod. We do recommend using an external charger. Most battery chargers have a slider to accept different sized batteries. But if you don’t have a separate charger you can charge while the batteries are in the mod.
The 20700 batteries that come with the iJoy Captain PD270 are a major plus in my book. It’s interesting, it’s different and it has a definite purpose. You get genuinely more battery capacity and can vape at high wattages for longer periods of time. Combines with the IWEPAL chip. This mod is terrific for demanding vapers looking for high performance and very large clouds.
iJoy Captain PD270 Mod Specs
The iJoy Capatin PD270 vape mod review rolls on! Okay, I told you about the bigger, taller 20700 batteries. And yes in order to accommodate those taller batteries the Captain mod is about 5 to 7 mm taller than a typical vape mod. That is about a quarter of an inch. But it is the same width and thickness so the hand comfort is still there. The mod stands 89 mm tall or 3.5 inches tall. It is 48 mm wide, that’s just under 2 inches. And she is 32 mm thick, so an inch and a bit. I like the girth because you can use up to a 30 mm diameter atomizer with no overhang.
This mod is very well built. It feels very tough and sturdy. The stainless steel 510 appears to have a corrosion resistant gold plated center pin. I think this mod looks great. I like the carbon fiber stickers and you can get it in a variety of colors. There is a nice grip to it as well. This is something that I always look for because I have sweaty hands. Gross, I know. Sorry.
Bullet points! I know, I need to have plenty of bullet points in mu iJoy Captain PD270 vape mod review. I just really enjoy writing about all the details but I know bullet points are a quicker resource for our readers. So here we go. The iJoy Captain PD 270 specs.

Vaping The iJoy Captain PD270 Mod
The first thing I want to talk about in my iJoy Captain PD270 vape mod review in terms of actually vaping this mod is the versatility. Yes versatility in terms of the vaping styles that you can accommodate. But also versatility relating to the range of atomizers that you can use. The 510 is one of the best. And the fact that you can use a 30 mm diameter tank with no overhang.
For the iJoy Captain PD270 vape mod review I decided to begin testing with the Uwell Crown 2 vape tank. I primed the coil and decided to jump right in. I set the Captain to 75 watts and boom. No lag time. The vapor production was virtually instant. This is pretty much the standard now. The vaping technology has come a long way and there is not really any excuse for any mod to have lag time. The Captain has no lag. It passes the test for being a fast, responsive vapor producer.
As an anecdotal observation, I interpreted that I was able to get a better than average coil life with the Captain. Now I always seem to get the best coil life from DNA mods. But, the Captain is not far off. I believe that I am safe in saying that the iJoy Captain PD270 is accurate and precise enough to the point that will give you full value out of your vape coils.
The iJoy Captain In Temperature Control
I wanted to try the Captain mod with an RDA. I am not the best coil builder so I used my single coil Goon RDA with clamps. It is easy to build on! I used the RDA coil with Nickel wire to test out the temperature control. Anyway, I found that I was able to not only push my coils to the limits but I was able to get a very consistent vape. I attribute this to the precision of the IWEPAL chaip. With the consistent temp control performance, the responsive vaping in variable wattage and the enjoyment I got from my own build, add it all up and I give a major thumbs up to the IWEPAL chip.
I also tried it with a tank with a ceramic atomizer with the Halo Jag 6 tank, one of the most underrated in the business. Once again I was able to fully enjoy the flavor and longevity of a ceramic coil. The chipset and the Captain PD270 were once again able to bring about a top performance from yet another atomizer.
Using The iJoy Captain PD270
For our Expert Vaping iJoy Captain PD270 vape mod review I want to quickly go over how to use this device. You will get a user manual but just to give you an idea of ease of use. First I want to mention the feel and mechanical actions. Number one I love the big fire button. It is perfect for firing with the thumb. It clicks beautifully as do the up and down buttons. Great grip. The up and down buttons are on the side so do lock in your settings because you don’t want to accidentally change your power output while vaping.
The battery door is easy access yet stays snugly shut. By the way, the 18650 adapter is also easy to use. In testing for the Captain review I did go through a couple of cycles with the 18650 adapter and Sony VTC4 high output vape batteries. You do get noticeably less capacity compared to the 20700 batteries. But you definitely get efficient vaping with 18650s.
Okay, so the Captain really is easy to use. Five clicks to turn it on and five clicks to turn it off. Three clicks to access the menu. The up and down buttons are how you scroll through the menu. The fire button is how you choose from the menu. Once you have your settings in place, hold the up and down button at the same time to lock down your settings.
iJoy Captain 270 Review Wrap
To wrap up our iJoy Captain PD270 review I want to remind you about what you get. You get the Captain PD270 mod. You get two 20700 high capacity batteries. And you will get the USB cable, the 18650 adapter and the user manual.
The Captain is a versatile ship! She will operate a huge range of vape tanks, RDAs or whatever atomizer you enjoy. The unique, defining feature are the 20700 batteries. Yes, the chip is very good. The vaping performance across the range of favored vaping styles is fantastic. But in my opinion what distinguishes the Captain PD270 is the additional capacity and availability of power.
With that, I turn this matter over to you! Below is a link where you can check out the iJoy Captain PD270 and if you decide to buy, you get the low price guarantee and free shipping.
