There are a couple of interesting things here. First up, the new Smok H-Priv 220 watt mod is obviously quite powerful and it has some very unique features. Next, the kit comes with a Micro TFV4 tank, and the TFV4 tank is absolutely one of the best. Our Smok H-Priv 220w kit review will cover all the details but right off the bat, playing spoiler, you will be thrilled to know that this complete kit, including coils and accessories, sells for less than $70.

This is a high quality vape starter kit and one of the top values I have come across. Smok products are proven performers. The Smok Treebox mod is one of my favorite mods and the XCube has drawn rave reviews from across the vaping world. The Smoktech H-Priv TC mod is smaller than the XCube and will work with every type of TC coil as well as variable power mode.

The Smok H Priv 220 watt power supply vape mod comes in a variety of colors including gold, blue and black with red fire buttons.

One thing we had fun with during the Smok H-Priv 220w Kit review was all the pre-sets. It has 16 pre-sets which is great for people who use a lot of different tanks and builds. You can pre-set power or temp settings to easily access when you change tanks or atomizers. Also, the TFV4 comes with so many different coil options the pre-sets come in handy that’s for sure. The firmware is upgradeable. So, it does a lot, but does not cost a lot.

To start off our Smok H-Priv 220w kit review, let’s get something straight. We know Smoktech is a great vape brand that uses the name Smok for their products. Now, I have heard a lot of people pronounce the name brand Smok like ‘smoke’. I have also heard Smok pronounced ‘smawk’. So, which is correct? I went directly to the company and asked them for a clarification. The answer is …….. both are okay. Thanks to Janet at Smoktech for clearing that up.

Okay, with that important matter adequately settled, let’s move along. The H-Priv has a lot of different features that you don’t see on other vape mods and we want to tell you all about it. It’s time to get into some of the nuts and bolts of our Smok H-Priv 220w TC kit review. We will start off with the mod.

Smok H-Priv 220w Kit Review

The Smok H-PRIV 220 watt power mod vape stands alone.

Starting off the Smok H-Priv 220w kit review we begin with the basics. It is made of a durable and light zinc alloy. It comes in three different color varieties. The Smok H-Priv 220 watt mod is 91mm tall, 55 mm wide and 25 mm thick. That is 3.6 inches tall, 2.1 inches wide and just shy of 1 inch in thickness. It weighs in at 190 grams or 6.7 ounces. If you had a Smok XCube, the H-Priv is 10% smaller and 20% lighter.

The smaller size actually makes a difference in comfort when holding and vaping the mod. The Smok H-Priv is very comfortable to hold and carry. So while you will notice the high degree of comfort, when you first take it out of the box, there are a couple of other differences that will really jump out at you.

The first thing you will notice is that there is no traditional fire button. Instead, there is a firing bar that runs the length of the mod. Smok says the H-Priv 220 watt TC mod will make you forget all about firing buttons! The full length firing bar is activated with a simple squeeze and you will hear the pronounced click to let you know that you have activated your mod.

The next difference that you will notice is the location of the screen. Most vape mods have the screen located on the side but not the Smok H-Priv 220. The screen is located on the top of the mod as opposed to the side. This was one of the more interesting aspects of doing the Smok H-Priv 220 watt mod kit review, specifically how will the top screen perform, is it useful, will juice leak into it and so on.

One thing about the top screen, as I was testing for the Smok H-Priv 220w kit review, it really stood out that with every vape you can see the screen. Is this useful? Well, I did not find it to be actually useful. There is no harm in seeing the screen as you vape. I would think that there might be a reluctance to have a top screen because a leaky tank might result in ejuice entering the screen and causing a short but the seal is very good and it was never an issue.

At the end of the day, the top screen is novel. It is an excellent quality screen and you can control the display brightness which is very good. The top screen is something different and I have to give Smok a lot of credit for trying something new and different. Why not a top screen! I don’t know if it will catch on but I do like companies that try different things and are always innovating. Thumbs up.

Smok H-PRIV 220 watt vape mod kit comes complete with the Micro TFV4 reservoir tank, USB cable, tank extension adapter, replacement glass tube, and micro stainless steel dual core.

Okay so now to the part of the Smok H-Priv 220w kit review where we talk about how it vapes! First and foremost, the H-Priv 220 is capable of 220 watts of power output. The range is from 6 watts to 220 watt in 1.0 watt increments. Now, it is not often that you will ever need 220 watts of power but many vapers like to push the envelope and take their vaping to the hairy edge and if this is you, the H-Priv 220 watt vape mod will indeed give you a ride to the hairy edge.

I did not push this vape mod to 220 watt during testing for the Smok H-Priv 220w kit review. Frankly, I did not want to even venture into a build with such a low atomizer resistance that I could think of going to 220 watt. I do have a Sigelei Moonshot RTA and I could have tried going to 220 watts and I am sure it would have made unbelievable vapor.

The reason that I didn’t do that is because I just enjoy the TFV4 so much and I wanted to try a range of pre-built coil options for the H-Priv 220 review. The H-Priv can do so many things it would take months and months to try every possible combination. Also, my personal vaping style very seldom venture into the area where I need any more that 80 watts. I also did try my Uwell Rafale vape tank with a 0.2 ohm stainless steel coil and pushed the H-Priv to 120 watts and it worked flawlessly. Fantastic vapor and very responsive.

H-Priv Peccadilloes

The Smok H-Priv 220 watt vape mod comes with a red anodized firing bar.

The H-Priv vape mod has a couple of Peccadilloes that you should be aware of. The firing bar does have a loud and pronounced click. Not a big deal but something to get used to. The loud click might be a hindrance if you need to vape in stealth. If you work in an office, the click will be heard by your co-workers. When you are making adjustments, you will be clicking the firing bar quite a bit so there will be a lot of clicking at times. Make use of your pre-sets and you eliminate the need for excessive loud clicking.

The battery door on the H-Priv 220 watt mod totally detaches from the device. This could make it more prone to being lost. Also, when removing and re-attaching the battery door, there is a bit of a trick to it. You will want to set the battery door almost all of the way in place. Leave about a 1 cm gap between the end of the battery compartment and the edge of the battery cover and then push down and slide into place.

If you slide the battery cover into place over the entire length of the battery compartment, you may potentially tear the battery covers. Smoktech actually includes a battery safety booklet with the H-Priv 220w kit explaining battery safety and advising never to use torn batteries. Maybe the tore a few battery covers in the R&D phase and realized that vapers need to be a bit careful when replacing the battery cover.

It’s just a matter of how you replace the battery cover after putting in fresh batteries. It’s a little design quirk that is easy to adapt to. The battery door and the clicky fire bar are the two peccadilloes of this vape mod. Every mod typically has them. It keeps thing different and interesting! The H-Priv is easy to get used to and these minor cons, if you want to call them that, do not really involve performance.

On the flip side, the H-Priv 220 battery cover has multiple venting which is an excellent safety feature.

USB Port Not For Charging Batteries!

It Is For Firmware Updates Only.

One last thing that I have to talk about in my Smok H-Priv 220w kit review and that is the USB port. The USB port itself is fine; however, the manual for the H-Priv mod says that the USB port is for upgrades and charging. Smoktech tells me that the USB port is for charging only. They are going to correct the user manual but if you should happen to receive a user manual that says that you can charge through the USB port, disregard because the USB port os only for software upgrades. In either case, even when a mod says you can charge the batteries through the USB port, you are always, always better off charging your 18650 batteries on a separate, dedicated battery charger.

Smok Micro TFV4

Smok Micro TFV4 vape mod atomizer tank comes in both black and silver.

The Smok Micro TFV4 tank is the smallest version of the TFV4 which is rated as the best vape tank of 2016. The Smok TFV4 is a vapor making beast that is impeccably designed and engineered. It performs at a high level consistently. There are many types of atomizer coil options to match a huge range of vaping styles. The coils are very long lasting. The TFV4 is rated as the best for good reason.

The Micro TFV4 utilizes the same technology and works with the same amazing quality coils. The Micro has a 2.5 ml to 3.5 ml e-liquid capacity depending on which coil you have in place. It is a top fill vape tank so very easy to refill and with a 3.5 ml capacity you will be refilling often! The trade-off is that the Micro TFV4 is very compact and portable.

The Micro TFV4 vape tank weighs 46 grams and has a precision 510 connection. It stands just 47 mm tall and is 22 mm in diameter. So that’s 1.8 inches tall and about an eighth of an inch in diameter. The adjustable airflow ports are large and you can get huge airflow if you wish. Don’t let the small size fool you, it will produce huge vapor just like its larger cousins in the TFV4 vape tank series.

The TFV4 Micro vape tank is one of the things that is most appealing about the Smok H-Priv 220w TC kit review. This is the premiere vape tank on a fully capable and versatile mod designed and manufactured by one of the leaders in the industry.

Smok H-Priv 220 Watt TC Mod Kit Review

For less than $70, you get an advanced mod capable of a vast range of functions. You get a mod that is capable of adding on to those functions in the future thanks to upgradeable firmware. As we mentioned above, you get an advanced vape mod from one of the leaders in the industry. On top of that, you get an amazing vape tank with the Smok TFV4. The longest lasting, high performance coils on the market. This kit screams value.

The value factor is perhaps the biggest gold star of the H-Priv 220w kit. This vape kit will absolutely be going on to our list of high quality affordable vaping mods. The top screen and firing bar distinguish this vape mod in appearance and function.

Smok H-PRIV 220 watt power mod battery chamber components explained with added warning for batteries with inadequate insulation that could pose a safety hazard.

The thing you will want to guard against is buying a clone or counterfeit H-Priv kit. This is an important thing that I want to stress in my Smok H-Priv 220 Watt TC mod kit review, avoid fakes and clones! There are a lot of them out there being sold through all sorts of retailers and vendors. When you buy your kit, go the the Smok customer support page and type in the verification code to ensure that you have an authentic product.

If you find out you have a clone product, in all honesty you are probably out of luck in seeking any type of refund. You can try but the vendor who sold it to you will probably just say that it is a 1:1 and just as good. The counterfeiting going on right now is startling. It is best to buy from a verified vendor like Direct Vapor where they always sell 100% authentic vape gear with a low price guarantee and free shipping.

That wraps up the Smok H-Priv 220w kit review! The kit is the best buy. You can buy the H-Priv separately but I do recommend the kit because of the value and because the TFV4 vape tanks are such excellent performers. This vape kit is something different! The H-Priv 220 watt mod kit is definitely a nice addition to your vape gear. Enjoy the vapor!
