Target Mini Mod Specs
This device is made of zinc alloy stainless steel with a sleek carbon fiber pattern spread across the bottom half and sides. It has a lot to offer vapers who are just starting out, as well as experienced folks looking for something new to add to their collection of fun and exciting vape devices.
This “mini-mod”, as the name implies, is small enough to comfortably fit in the palm of your hand– even with the tank attached. If you plan on going somewhere where you have to stealth vape, this device gets the job done. It fits comfortably in your pocket if you are on go. There are even excellent safety features that make carrying it your pocket worry free — but more on that later!
The body construction of this mod gave us peace of mind. Even though we were using a small unit, it was still sturdy and well-designed. The carbon fiber inlay gives it a flashy accent that makes this kit stand out from other mini devices on the market.
On the device, there are a total of four buttons. Above the screen and towards the top there is the firing/power button. All you have to do is hold down the button and start vaping away! Near the bottom of the mod, there’s a series of three buttons designed in a triangular pattern with two buttons on top and one on the bottom. These will help users explore the more advanced functions of the WTF Target Mini mod.
No mod review is considered complete without a list of the safety features. In an industry saturated by knock-off mods and companies with lax quality control, knowing how these attributes work is not just important — it is necessary to protect yourself!
First, the Target Mini comes with a protective feature that prevents the device from firing if there is no atomizer or tank connected to the mod. This element is essential because it ensures that you will never accidentally fire the mod without a tank and damage your device, yourself, or your property.
You can rest easy knowing that this mod comes with a ten-second cut off built right in. Consequently, if you forget to lock the device in your pocket and it accidentally starts firing, you won’t have to worry about it burning up your coils or clothes. Instead, it will stop function after 10 seconds of continuous firing.
Dual battery protection is also available on this device. You don’t have to worry about buying batteries or a separate charger for this device as it comes with a built-in Lithium 1400mAh battery. As a result, you have to charge this device by plugging it into a USB port with the included cord.
The battery protection feature prevents your device from firing when the battery is too low. You will get a warning on the .49 inch LED screen letting you know that the battery needs to be charged before you can continue vaping.
Similarly, if you fall asleep with your mod plugged into the charger you have no reason to worry. While it is best to avoid this practice, the overcharging protection feature prevents power from going to your device when fully charged.
Perhaps one of the best features of this device is how easy it is to pick up and use. It fits in the user’s hand like a joystick and is equally as easy to use. There are instructions included to help you decipher the trickier functions if needed, but overall the design and buttons function smoothly and seamlessly.
A couple of quick successive taps of the fire button will toggle the device on and off. Holding the button while a tank is attached will fire the device and allow you to begin vaping. The three function buttons are arranged in a triangle, like the Triforce from the Legend of Zelda. It has two buttons on top and one beneath.
The two buttons on top of the triangle control the wattage or temperature. Regarding wattage, this device goes up to 40w. Temperature control options range from 200 degrees up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. Although this may not satisfy hardcore vapers often concerned with maximum output, it delivers a satisfying amount of both flavor and vapor for most users unfamiliar with box mods.
Holding down the bottom button in the triangle design for two seconds will switch it from the default wattage setting to nickel coil preset temperature control mode. Holding the button down again and it will take you to stainless steel mode. One more time and you will go to the last temperature mode optimized for titanium atomizer coils.
After you cycle through your TC modes, you will go to your programmable memory modes, which you can manually adjust. Manually adjusting the memory modes is quick and easy, just tap the bottom button three times and a screen will pop up allowing you to customize memory 1 and memory 2 with the left and right buttons so you can have the two settings you use most ready to go.
The WTF Tank Information and Specs
Now that we have looked at the mod, it is time to dive into the tank and see what exactly it is capable of doing and how well it works with the device. The WTF Tank is a tank made specifically for MigVapor by the celebrated tank manufacturing brand Tobeco.
There are six different color options available for the tank, including gun metal, black rubber, splatter green, white, red, and stainless steel. The best part about the varying colors is it provides users the freedom of choice, something many tank companies don’t offer or only offer in only two or three variations.
The highlight of this tank in this reviewer’s opinion is that it comes with the ability to hold an impressive 3.7ml of juice. Considering that this tank is part of a “mini” starter kit, that is a fair amount of juice! You won’t have to worry about refilling your tank every 5 minutes, especially if you are a chain vaper like me!
Despite being a tank for a mini device, the size does not disappoint. It has a diameter of 22mm and a length of 53m.
Taking Apart the Tank
Hardcore vapers like ourselves love taking apart out tanks and giving them a thorough cleaning. It adds to the life of the tank and helps to ensure a pure, delicious vape juice flavor.
The best attribute is that this tank comes apart simply and goes back together just as easily. The WTF Tank is well machined, there is no question about that. Everything fits together with precision, and there are multiple o-rings on the tank to guarantee a snug fit which we appreciated.
Much like the MIG Vapor Mini device, the WTF Tank is stainless steel, and a glass tube is in the center to view your e-liquid level. If you decide to take apart your device from top to bottom, there are not a whole lot of working parts, which contribute to how easy it is to clean.
The list of parts include:
- 5/10 screw on drip tip
- Top assembly + Chimney
- Glass tube
- Replaceable Coil (by default)
- Bottom Assembly
To disassemble and clean the tank, you need only unscrew the 5/10 drip tip from the top assembly. Then unscrew the bottom assembly from the glass tube. A couple of counter-clockwise spins will loosen the base, and you will be able to pull it apart. Notice that there is an o-ring on the bottom of the tube that helps it fit into the bottom assembly. It’s necessary to ensure that the tank does not leak, be careful not to lose it.
Now, you should have nothing but the top assembly and the glass tube. After removing the bottom assembly, all that has to be done to break loose the top assembly is a small turn and pull. It will come right out, and another o-ring on the top will become visible.
After taking apart this tank ourselves and cleaning it, there is no doubt that it comes apart and cleans up quite easily.
WTF Tank Coil Options
There are a total of two different coil options. A 0.2 Ohm coil is already loaded into the WTF Tank when you take it out of the box. Inside the box, you will also receive a 0.5 Ohm coil that is ready to go.
The type of coil you use is going to depend on your personal preference. Personally, I enjoyed the .2Ohm coil because of the dense cloud output it created. The flavor is still there and noticeable, but big vapor takes priority.
On the other hand, the .5Ohm coil allows for superior flavor. Both options will deliver on clouds and taste. It all comes down to what you want from your vape device.
You can buy packs (5 per pack) of .20 ohm or .50 ohm coils replacements for this atomizer. Both coil types come in the kit. After you try each one you can pick the type that suits your vape style. Remember, .50 ohm coils will get you better flavor, while .20 ohm will get you bigger clouds.
Changing your coil is a breeze too. Just unscrew the bottom assembly from the glass tube, as previously discussed. Once you have the base assembly out, unscrew the old coil and screw the new coil into the bottom.
Once the new coil is screwed in and the tank reassembled you need to add juice to the tank and let it sit for around 10 minutes before you can vape. It is crucial that you let the cotton soak in the juice before you hit the fire button. Failure to follow this step will result in you burning your cotton and ruining the replacement coils — which cost money!
Refilling the WTF Tank
MIG Vapor and Tobeco made it super simple to add juice to your tank. Simply unscrew the 5/10 drip tip from the top assembly, and three holes are visible underneath the mouthpiece. These three holes are your fill holes, and as the name implies, the entry for filling the tank with e-liquid.
Vapers have expressed their love for the top-fill feature because it’s genuinely mess-free and easy. During my time with this device, I never had a problem with the tank leaking. The superior design of the tank allowed us to fill the tank up completely while sitting as a passenger in a moving car!
Once you have added your juice, all you have to do is screw the drip tip back on and wait 5-10 minutes for the juice to soak in the cotton. Just like that, your juice is replenished and you’re ready to start vaping again right away.
